Trade shows are like supermarkets.
Every time I go to the supermarket, I take way too long to get groceries. This isn’t because I don’t have a shopping list or don’t know the layout of the store, but rather all of the flashy products catch my attention as I walk down the isles. If I see something new or something that looks interesting, I stop to learn more about it and potentially buy it. In fact, I don’t know about you, but I often walk out of the store with a few things that I didn’t even know I needed.
Trade shows work in exactly the same way. Often attendees have a list of certain booths that they want to visit. So, they walk up and down the isles looking for those booths. In the meantime, another booth may catch their attention and before they realize it, they have stopped to learn about other company’s products.
At other times, attendees may not be looking for anything in particular or my have time to kill time between sessions. Just as before, if an interesting booth grabs their attention, they will gravitate towards that booth to see what is taking place.
Since there are so many booths, attendees may not even notice that a company that they want to visit is attending the show. This is why my magic presentations are so effective. As attendees walk up and down the trade show floor isle, I grab their attention and before they know it, they are hooked. Then I teach the crowd about the company and the products in the booth.
