As a trade show magician, my main goal is to build a crowd and them those people into your booth. This video shows the last part of my presentation and focuses on how I engage attendees and welcome them into booth. Here is a breakdown of what’s taking place behind the scenes and why it works so well.
First, you will notice that I hook the audience with the promise of teaching them a trick once I’m finished with the magic. This keeps the audience interested and stops them from leaving. And we fulfill this promise at the end by giving away a three card monte trick that is branded with the company logo. Attendees can quickly learn this trick and perform it for their friends. This helps to spread the word about the magic in our booth.
About halfway through the video you’ll see a team member walk around the crowd and scan the attendees’ badges. We implemented this strategy to add everyone who stopped to watch into our nurturing program. After the attendees came inside, team members further qualified the leads and took additional information. There are several other ways to qualify leads which I’ll talk about in a future post.
I finish the presentation by explaining that everyone is a winner when they work with my client. I then invite the attendees into the booth to get the three card monte trick and also point out where specific instruments are located. Once the attendees start to enter, team members are ready to talk and learn more about their specific needs. They also hand out the three card monte tricks and whatever other giveaways they have to offer.
At the end of the video, you’ll see that people gather around me to learn more about my role within the company. If you listen carefully, you’ll hear a gentleman say that magic is a great idea for the booth. I chat with these attendees and get them to come into the booth by offering a three card monte set. I usually talk with as many people as I can until a team member frees up to talk with the guests.
As you can see, magic presentations are an incredible way to build a crowd, break the ice, get everyone in good spirits, and get them to come into your booth. The best part is that they already feel like they know us and are ready to have a conversation.

P.S. Check out all of the smiles from the people in the crowd. This is one of the many reasons I love being a trade show magician.
